Job summary

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) seeks a Financial Services Manager (Controller) to lead accounting, financial reporting, and grant management, ensuring GAAP/GASB compliance and accurate ACFR preparation.

The role supervises accounting staff, strengthens internal controls, coordinates month-end/year-end closes, and acts as primary liaison with external auditors. You will collaborate with program managers to monitor grants and forecast expenditures.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent.
• Five years of progressively responsible accounting/financial management experience, preferably in public/governmental environment.
• Three years managing grant accounting, reporting, and compliance activities.
• Experience with ACFR and Single Audit processes.
• CPA license required.
• Three years of supervisory or management experience in accounting/financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger; manage chart of accounts integrity.
• Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end close processes.
• Manage grant accounting, reimbursements, expenditure tracking, and compliance reporting.
• Prepare ACFR and Single Audit documentation; liaise with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with GASB/GAAP and grant requirements.
• Develop and improve internal controls and financial procedures.
• Provide leadership for financial system workflows and access controls.
