Job summary

The State of Texas seeks an experienced Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection Division, based in Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio. This role demands a high-caliber plaintiff's side litigator to pursue major corporate breaches of consumer protection laws and fiduciary duties.

You will lead investigations from inception through trial, issue Civil Investigative Demands, and manage complex discovery and motion practice, with opportunities to try cases in federal or state court.

Qualifications

• Graduation from accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree (J.D.).
• Licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• Knowledge of law, legal principles, practices, and procedures; state and federal laws and rules.

Responsibilities

• Drive complex investigations from inception through trial, including issuing Civil Investigative Demands.
• Take pre-suit depositions of well-represented opponents and manage extensive document discovery.
• Handle sophisticated motion practice and try cases to verdict.
• Work in fast-paced, high-profile investigations with significant public interest.
• Provide courtroom advocacy as needed and collaborate with attorneys and staff.
