Job summary

State of Iowa - Executive Branch's Office of the Attorney General seeks an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Litigation Division. This non-merit position is exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of law.
• Admitted to the Iowa State Bar and appropriate federal courts.
• Two years of litigation experience preferred.
• License to practice law in Iowa or ability to obtain license.

Responsibilities

• Defend the State and its agencies in state and federal court proceedings across tort, employment, statutory and other civil‑liability matters.
• Work with the Solicitor General Division to defend the constitutionality of state statutes and programs.
• Gain substantial trial and appellate experience in a collegial environment with lawyers and paralegals.
