Iowa Attorney General's Office is seeking an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Litigation Division. The attorney will defend the State and its agencies in various civil matters, often collaborating with the Solicitor General Division to challenge statutes and programs on constitutional grounds.

A successful candidate will manage a high caseload with strong organization and a commitment to public service, and must be admitted to the Iowa Bar.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree.
• Admitted to practice law in Iowa or able to obtain admission.
• 2+ years of litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend the State and agencies in state and federal court proceedings.
• Handle tort, employment, statutory and other civil-liability matters.
• Work with Solicitor General Division to defend constitutionality of statutes and programs.
• Provide high-quality legal representation and support the rule of law.
