The Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) in Washington, DC seeks an Accountant to analyze accounting records and provide financial guidance to programs.

Responsibilities include preparing reports, reconciling ledgers, auditing transactions, and advising management on account status; requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting with 24 hours in accounting and at least two years’ experience.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of progressive experience performing responsibilities such as processing and reconciling financial transactions, assisting with preparation of financial reports, and verifying accuracy of financial data.
• Bachelor's degree earned at an accredited US institution in accounting or related field that included 24 semester hours in accounting (can include up to six hours of business law); transcript required; foreign credential evaluation if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and interpreting financial reports, statements and data.
• Advising management on the status of accounts and recommending alternatives.
• Performing reconciliations of accounts.
• Auditing accounting transactions.
• Reconciling general ledger accounts to agency records.
• Preparing various accounting reports.
• Assisting with conducting complex financial studies.
• Making recommendations for the adaptation of internal controls.
• Ensuring the reliability and security of funds and records.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
