Job summary

State of Vermont seeks a Vehicle & Equipment Technician for the DPS, based in Colchester, VT. The role involves servicing and repairing a broad fleet, including police vehicles and trucks, with duties ranging from LOF and brakes to emergency equipment installation and vehicle striping. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years or more of experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing automotive equipment.
• Completion of trade school or technician program, or other relevant training or certification.
• Experience with diagnostics and/or welding.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• A Vermont Inspection license within 60 days of employment.
• Incumbent must provide the tools required for this position.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 80 pounds.

Responsibilities

• LOF's, tires, brakes, tune-ups, emergency equipment install, and striping and lettering of vehicles.
• May be dispatched with the flat bed to recover disabled vehicles.
• Work with a fleet team responsible for over 500 vehicles, trailers, and items of equipment.
• Operate state vehicles to perform repairs or recoveries as needed.
