Job summary

Centra Health is seeking a Public Safety Officer to provide emergency, public safety, physical security, and protection services within the organization. The role supports safety for staff, patients, and visitors, and ensures compliance with hospital policies and state/federal requirements.

The position involves responding to Code calls, monitoring premises, assisting with helipad operations, and performing notary services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Driver's license is required.
• On-the-job training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Monitors conduct of visitors on premises and documents incidents.
• Monitors video footage, security alarms, responds per protocol and secures property/equipment.
• Responds to Code calls (e.g., Grey, Red, Yellow, Orange, Silver, ADAM).
• Monitors parking lot safety and enforces parking rules.
• Restraints may be used on patients per hospital policy if needed and authorized staff request.
• Prepares helipad for helicopter traffic arrivals/departures.
• Provides notary public services.
• Manages logins/logouts and releases bodies from morgue/funeral home/DOA; handles radio, pages, and service requests.
• Performs weapons screening/detection operations per protocols and addresses alarms/threats professionally.
