Job summary

Johnson County Government is seeking a Civilian Specialist to support the Detention Bureau and related divisions. The role involves assisting with lobby, booking desk, control centers, alarm monitoring, and records, while responding to emergency and routine calls for service under supervision.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent; an Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field is preferred, with 6 months of general work experience and 1–2 years in law

Qualifications

• Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• An Associate's degree in criminal justice, social services or related field is preferred.
• Six (6) months of general work experience is required with 1-2 years of law enforcement related experience preferred.
• Applicants must possess attention to detail, basic mathematical skills, human relations/interpersonal skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, and time management skills to include the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines.
• Physical abilities include mobility, agility, strength, dexterity, balance, coordination, and/or endurance are also required.

Responsibilities

• Support lobby, booking desk, control centers, alarm monitoring, property room, inmate programs, classifications, court coordinator, and records.
• Respond to emergency and routine calls for service under the supervision of a superior officer.
• Assist in providing a professional and humane environment for inmates as charged by Kansas State Statute.
