The UC Irvine Police Department provides public safety and law enforcement services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for the UCI Irvine campus and properties, and the UCI Health Network, which includes UCI Health Orange, UCI Health Irvine, UCI Health Fountain Valley, UCI Health Lakewood, UCI Health Los Alamitos, UCI Health Placentia-Linda, and designated Health clinics.
The Police Department's Health Division uses a hybrid model that includes Police Officers, Public Safety Ambassadors, Public Safety Responders, Public Safety Supervisors and Site Public Safety Supervisors, as well as other professional staff members who work together to safeguard the lives and property of the University and its patients, visitors, faculty, staff, and students at the various UCI sites.
Site Public Safety Supervisors are assigned to supervise a public safety team at one of four Community Network Hospital locations (Fountain Valley, Lakewood, Los Alamitos, or Placentia-Linda). These teams provide 24/7 coverage. A public safety supervisor supervises each of the four shifts directly, while the Site Public Safety Supervisor provides overall site supervision and monitoring.
The Site Public Safety Supervisor reports to a Police Sergeant and is responsible for supporting and supervising the overall mission of the Public Safety Division, including overseeing all security operations at the designated Community Network Hospitals. This includes ensuring staffing, scheduling, payroll, compliance, training and coaching, access control, responding to and documenting incidents, conducting inspections, acting as a liaison between the public safety staff, hospital administration, and local law enforcement, maintaining a safe and secure environment, conducting regular security assessments and identifying potential threats or vulnerabilities impacting hospital operations, safety and security.
In the absence of a Public Safety Supervisor, Site Public Safety Supervisors assume this role and responsibilities.
As a member of the UC Irvine Police Department, the Site Public Safety Supervisor supervises and directs a team of Public Safety Supervisors and Responders in monitoring and responding to public Safety concerns and conditions at one of four UCI Health Community Network Hospitals: Placentia, Lakewood, Los Alamitos and Fountain Valley.
Reporting to a Police Sergeant, the Site Public Safety Supervisor has overall responsibility for supervising and monitoring Public Safety team members assigned to a Community Network Hospital, providing public safety services and ensuring program standards and policies are adhered to.
