Job summary

Sunnyvale Police Department is seeking an individual to participate as a Public Safety Officer Academy Attendee/Graduate. The role involves learning to perform both police and fire duties, with duties spanning law enforcement, fire suppression, and EMS basics.

You will work under supervision while attending the California POST Basic Academy or recently graduated, and you may be in training for promotion to Officer I after successful completion.

Qualifications

• Completion of 45 semester or 67 quarter units from an accredited college or university.
• Current attendance at a California POST Basic Academy with a minimum POST T-Score of 48.
• The completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university is required by the date of graduation from a California POST Basic Academy.

Responsibilities

• Attend POST academy and learn to perform a wide range of public safety work.
• Prepare for police and fire duties including emergency response and basic life support.
• Learn to use firearms and other modern police equipment and communication systems.
