Job summary

The City of Walla Walla Police Department seeks a Police Officer to provide emergency aid, security, and protection to residents. You will patrol the city, respond to incidents, assist the public, and enforce applicable laws. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to pass written, physical and oral exams, a valid driver’s license, and U.S.

citizenship or lawful permanent residency. Successful completion of the Washington State Academy and a clean background are required;

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED; must pass written, physical ability and oral examination.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and able to satisfy background checks.
• Must possess valid State driver’s license and have a good driving record.
• Must complete Washington State Law Enforcement Training Commission Academy during initial 18-month trial period.
• Desirable bilingual ability in Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent crime and enforce laws and regulations.
• Investigate calls, interview victims, witnesses and suspects; prepare progress reports.
• Provide emergency aid, crisis intervention, and public information on laws and ordinances.
• Appear in court and testify; maintain proficiency with police equipment.
• Perform duties related to investigation, traffic control, and citizen assistance.
