Job summary

The City of Champlin is seeking Police Officers to maintain a visible presence, enforce laws, educate the public, respond to emergencies, and support public safety. Officers may serve as Field Training Officers, investigators, or on task forces, with duties including traffic stops, DWI arrests, and court testimony.

The role emphasizes public safety and community outreach, with opportunities for specialized assignments and collaboration with other agencies.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field.
• Completion of law enforcement skills program.
• Must meet MN POST Board licensing requirements and hold a valid Class D driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the City and proactively address criminal activity and public safety concerns.
• Respond to 911 calls including emergencies and medical incidents.
• Conduct traffic stops and issue citations or warnings.
• Document actions clearly and maintain body camera footage and comprehensive reports.
• Investigate crimes and gather evidence for case building.
• Mediate civil disputes and coordinate with other agencies as needed.
• Serve in specialized roles (FTO, Firearms Instructor, Investigators, SRO, etc.).
• Provide assistance to officers and emergency responders as required.
