Job summary

Woodbury Public Safety in Minnesota seeks a dedicated Police Officer to join our community‑driven department. You will enforce laws, investigate incidents, and protect life and property while working under supervision to ensure public safety.

The role requires eligibility for Minnesota peace officer licensure within 6 months, a Minnesota driver’s license, and a satisfactory driving record. Preferred: 2nd language fluency and completion of field training.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to be licensed as a police officer in Minnesota within 6 months of application.
• Must possess a valid Minnesota driver’s license (or from a contiguous state) or be able to obtain one prior to employment.
• Must have a satisfactory driving record.
• Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or related field OR must have completed POST requirements/reciprocity within 6 months.
• Citizen or eligible to work in the United States; undergo background checks; meet minimum standards for peace officer appointment.

Responsibilities

• Detect suspicious situations or hazards from a distance, up close and under low light conditions.
• Work with or without direct supervision and exercise discretion and independent judgment.
• Develop positive relationships with the community to prevent crimes and resolve safety issues.
• Drive department vehicles under routine, emergency and pursuit circumstances; patrol city streets, parks and facilities.
• Dispatched by radio/computer to perform police functions and respond to calls for service and accidents.
• Prepare reports, testify in court, and communicate with the public and schools.
