Indiana University Health System seeks a Part-time Public Safety Officer at Tipton Hospital to conduct rounds and vehicle/pedestrian patrols, respond to calls, and enforce hospital policies. The role supports a secure healthcare environment and requires driving capability and a clean background.

The position operates in a rotating schedule with supplemental hours, including weekends. Training and advancement opportunities are available within Public Safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of relevant security experience.
• Must hold a current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License.
• Pass pre-employment background, drug screen, and psychological exam.
• Must obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
• Clean record with no felony, domestic violence, or violent misdemeanor convictions.
• Willingness to work rotating, part-time hours.

Responsabilités

Schedule: Part time - Rotating Shift - Supplemental hours (0-24 may vary weekly at the needs of the department)(PRN)

Work Location: Tipton Hospital

Department Supported: Public Safety

Primary Responsibilities:

Conducts rounding and foot and vehicle patrols in and around properties that are owned, leased or occupied by IU Health. Responds to calls for service. Enforces and assists in the enforcement of IU Health rules, regulations and policies. Provides direction and guidance to team members, guests and patients. Assists teams with de-escalating tense, uncertain and emotional situations. Investigates criminal activity and vehicle crashes as needed. Maintains records and logs and completes written reports as required. Performs physical security screening as required. Creates a safe healthcare environment for team members, patients and guests. Performs other duties as assigned by the chain of command.

Candidate Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Requires 0-2 years of relevant experience.
• Requires current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License.
• Must not have convictions for felony, domestic violence or violent misdemeanor offenses.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening and psychological exam.
• Requires working knowledge of computers and various software programs.
• Must be able to obtain NCIC/IDACS certification and access.
• Have never had law enforcement officer license denied by final order or revoked.
• Not currently on suspension or have a voluntary surrender of a law enforcement license currently in effect.

Candidate Preferred:

• Associate's Degree is preferred.

Benchmarks:

• 3 months: Completing training, demonstrating knowledge of policies, effective patrol and report writing.
• 6 months: Independently handling incidents, strong communication and de-escalation skills.
• 12 months: Trusted team member, mentoring newer staff, consistently high performance in safety response.
