Position Summary

This position is committed to providing World Class Service for the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The Public Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the venue and all events. Special security assignments may be available during non-event days/nights. The security team provides direct service to our guests and must always exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor.

This role pays an hourly rate of $16.00.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance for all services and activities involved in facility and event security.
• Coordinate the function of event security in conjunction with client’s security personnel.
• Monitor fire safety equipment, surveillance equipment, and card access equipment.
• Work security check points/posts.
• Assist supervisor with duties related to Public Safety, theft deterrence, and loss prevention.
• Complete building, parking lot, and safety inspections daily.
• Assist supervisor in interactions with law enforcement and fire rescue.
• Report workplace injuries and Worker’s Compensation incidents to the supervisor.
• Assist in issuing keys to employees and clients.
• Recommend modifications to safety programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate.
• Assist with daily parking operations when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Experience in public facility security duties.
• Verifiable experience in similar operations within a large, service-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with or certification in Crowd Management and control techniques.
• Knowledge of training principles and performance evaluation.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds; stand, walk, bend, and reach outdoors for extended periods.
• Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet use.
