Job description

Overview

The Public Safety Officer reports to the Security Manager. In this role, you will assist the Security Manager. This position operates under direct supervision and mentorship of the Security Manager.

This role will pay an hourly rate of $15.00.

For Part-Time roles: Benefits include a 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching.

This position will remain open until June 30, 2025.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with facility and event security activities.
  • Perform crowd management and control; assist police and fire rescue as needed.
  • Remain calm during emergency situations that could be life-threatening.
  • Understand the organization and operation of the convention center and outside agencies to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with contacts in the course of work.
  • Assist in general duties of public safety, theft deterrence, and loss prevention.
  • Conduct building, parking lot, and safety inspections as assigned.
  • Monitor fire safety equipment, surveillance systems, and card access controls.
  • Work security checkpoints, posts, and traffic assistance as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the manager.
  • Be able to reach, grasp, walk, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
  • Lift and carry at least 30 pounds.
  • Work indoors and outdoors under varying climates.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external clients, exchanging information accurately.
Qualifications
  • Security D License is a plus.
  • Unrestricted Florida Driver's License.
  • Ability to obtain Florida Security License.
  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with public facility security and safety programs.
  • Experience in a large, service-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet use.
  • Fluent in English (reading, speaking, writing).
  • Relevant coursework in law enforcement, administration, or related fields.
  • Ability to work beyond normal hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
