Job summary

Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital is seeking a Security Officer responsible for routine safety and emergency security activities to safeguard patients, staff, visitors, and property. The role acts as a first responder to incidents and de-escalates combative situations with sound judgment.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of public safety or security experience, plus relevant certifications. Pre-employment psychological screening is required.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Equivalent training and job experience to demonstrate responsible handling of weapons and use of force.
• IAHSS Certification as Security Officer within 1 year required.
• Carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or baton required.
• Carry company issued firearm required.
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening.
• Must pass and maintain training to include firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid and others as directed.
• POS TOST certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the safe de-escalation of critical events and the use of sound judgment in the engagement with combative or escalating subjects.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• 2 years of experience in general security, military or other public safety experience where required to actively carry a firearm in the regular course of duty Required or
• equivalence of training and job experience to support effective demonstration of responsible handling of weapons and use of force. Required

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 Upon Hire Required
• IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer within 1 Year Required
• Carry non-lethal weapons such as a Taser CEW and/or a baton Required
• Carry company issued firearm Required
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening Required
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment to include certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed Required
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
