This position involves a variety of routine safety and emergency security activities to safeguard students, employees, visitors, patients, and property. The officer is the first responder to all emergency incidents within the assigned facility and is responsible for de-escalating critical events safely and using sound judgment when engaging with potentially combative or escalating subjects.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Minimum Experience Required: Two years in security, military, or other public safety roles involving active firearm use, or equivalent training and experience demonstrating responsible handling of weapons and use of force
• Minimum Licensure/Certification: Valid Driver's License; adherence to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500
• Additional Qualifications: Certified Healthcare Security Officer (IAHSS) within one year of hire; Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification preferred; ability to carry non-lethal weapons such as Taser CEW and baton; must pass pre-employment psychological screening and maintain certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, among others
