Qualifications

• Healthcare security experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• IAHSS certification preferred.
• Valid State Driver’s license required at hire.
• Current DMV record required.

Responsibilities

• Access control and patrols: monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to deter theft, violence, or unsafe behavior.
• Emergency response: respond to emergency codes and assist with crowd control, evacuation, or containment as needed.
• De-escalation and conflict management: intervene in disruptive situations using de-escalation techniques to calm agitated individuals in collaboration with clinical staff
• Patient and visitor assistance: escort individuals safely, provide directions, and assist with lost-and-found or personal property issues
• Incident documentation: write detailed reports on incidents, accidents, or safety hazards and report findings to supervisors or risk management

We are seeking a Public Safety Officer, sometimes referred to as a Hospital Security Officer or Healthcare Security Officer. The Public Safety Officer will perform a range of security duties including electronic surveillance and routine manual patrols to ensure the safety of the facility. The Public Safety Officer will coordinate responses to incidents involving patients, staff, and visitors while enforcing policies and procedures fairly and consistently. The Public Safety Officer will collaborate with the Environment of Care Committee to support a multidisciplinary approach to safety and security at our hospital. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.
