Job summary

The City of San Jose is seeking a Network Technician I/II/III to support the San Jose Police Department's mission-critical technology environment. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot MDCs, AIS workstations, desktops, laptops, and related peripherals, while responding to Help Desk requests and diagnosing issues across hardware, software, and network systems.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED plus college-level IT coursework (minimum).
One year of college coursework for IT II and related experience may substitute education for the role.
CompTIA A+ certificate required; Microsoft Specialist certification desirable.
Experience with Windows environments, AD, and enterprise endpoint management is preferred.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot MDCs, AIS workstations, desktops, laptops, and related peripherals.
Respond to Help Desk requests and diagnose hardware, software, network, and user access issues.
Troubleshoot wired/wireless network connectivity, switches, access points, and related infrastructure.
Support Windows-based workstations in an Active Directory environment and assist with patching and upgrades.
Assist with deployment, patching, and lifecycle replacement of computing equipment.
Support endpoint security technologies and system updates; ensure documentation accuracy.
