Job summary

The City of Birmingham Fire Department is seeking Fitness Instructors to develop health, fitness, and wellness programs for employees. You will design training and testing programs, supervise group classes, and monitor attendees for safety and effectiveness.

Work mainly in fitness facilities with occasional site visits to offsite locations; the department offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Requires Driver's license, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification.
• Option A includes 12 college credits in health/physical education or related field.
• Option B prefers work experience in organizing fitness activities and field testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop health, fitness and wellness programs for employees and community.
• Instruct group classes and monitor fitness center attendees for safety.
• Design physical ability training and testing programs for recruits.
• Assess programs’ effectiveness and propose improvements.
• Communicate with diverse stakeholders about programs and services.
• Assist in daily fitness center operations and inventory tasks.
