Job summary

Buncombe County Government seeks a Public Safety Business Administrator I to lead administrative and business operations for the Public Safety Communications department in Asheville. The role focuses on budget, procurement, contracts, grants, and financial reporting for the 24/7 911 operation.

The successful candidate will work with Finance, Budget, HR, and vendors, providing the Director with timely financial insights to support sound decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in related field, and four (4) years administrative experience in budgeting or governmental programs.
• Experience in budget development, purchasing, contracts, grants, and expenditure reporting.
• Strong proficiency with Excel, Power BI, SQL Management Studio and data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist in administration and management of the department’s fiscal performance and operations.
• Support budget development, monitoring, and data consolidation.
• Oversee contracts, grants, and expenditure reporting for compliance.
• Coordinate with Finance, Budget, HR, Purchasing, and leadership on financial matters.
• Monitor internal controls and ensure secure, efficient departmental operations.
