Job summary

Buncombe County Public Safety Communications is seeking a Telecommunicator Supervisor to lead a team handling 911 calls and dispatch for EMS, Fire, and Law enforcement. The position oversees daily operations, ensures high-quality service, and collaborates with agency partners to maintain efficient communications.

Requires 3+ years of telecommunicator experience and APCO CTO certification. The role emphasizes leadership, coaching, and adherence to safety protocols in a fast-paced public safety

Qualifications

  • Two years as Public Safety Telecommunicator III CTO or three years of 911 telecommunicator experience including dispatching for LE/EMS/Fire.
  • APCO CTO certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to supervise 24x7 operations and coordinate with agency partners.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee squad daily operations, monitoring calls and providing technical guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Perform quality control by listening to 911 calls and radio transmissions; provide coaching and feedback.
