Job summary

Buncombe County Government seeks a Public Safety Business Administrator I to lead administrative and business operations for the 24/7 emergency communications center in Asheville. The role reports to the Public Safety Communications Director and oversees budget development, purchasing, contracts, accounts payable, grants, state 911 funding, and expenditure reporting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required and four years administrative experience involving planning and managing a business or governmental program, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience with budgeting, procurement, and financial reporting is needed.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Power BI, and data analysis is preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure fiscal regulations and policies are followed and administrative matters are completed per regulations.
Assist Director with high‑level administrative activities and front office management.
Support annual operating budget administration including data maintenance and consolidation.
Evaluate internal controls and perform routine monitoring of department operations.
Oversee contract and grant elements for audit, compliance, and performance reporting.
Provide financial analysis and support to department leadership.
