Job summary

The City of Laguna Beach Police Department is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher - Lateral (Full-Time) to dispatch Police, Fire and Marine Safety units and handle critical communications. You will input data, prepare records and reports, and support court processes.

Qualified candidates bring two years of dispatch experience and a high school diploma; POST certification is desirable. Expect evening, weekend, and holiday shifts with a strong emphasis on accuracy and composure under pressure.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of public safety dispatching experience, including probation completion.
• POST Basic Public Safety Dispatcher Certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Receives, screens and transmits public safety calls via telephone and radio communications systems
• Dispatches public safety personnel and equipment (Police, Fire and Marine Safety) in response to requests for service
• Performs intensive data inputting of information received via computer keyboard
• Types departmental reports and initiates forms related to Records Division procedures
• Completes reports and complaints for court prosecution
• May make personal searches of prisoners
• Initiates and sends messages and information requests on law enforcement computer systems
• Extensive radio and telephone contact with public safety personnel and the public in stressful situations
• Works evening, weekend and holiday shifts as assigned
