Job summary

Twinsburg, City of (OH) seeks a Dispatcher/Clerk - Lateral with at least one year of full-time dispatcher experience in Ohio. This is a full-time, union position with benefits; hourly rate determined by collective bargaining agreement, based on experience.

The incumbent will monitor phone, radio, and computer systems, dispatch police, fire and EMS, use LEADS and NCIC as needed, and assist with training new Dispatchers while maintaining records and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must have at least one year experience as a full-time Dispatcher in the State of Ohio with no more than one year of separation of employment.
• Must meet Twinsburg Civil Service Commission and Ohio Revised Code requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age at appointment.
• Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and good driving record.
• Citizen or permanent resident of the United States; no felony convictions.
• Background investigation and certifications for local, state and national databases and telecommunication systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and operates phone, radio and computer systems to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and EMS services.
• Dispatches police, fire and EMS units; prioritizes calls and enters data into computer systems.
• Translates information to codes for radio transmission and recordkeeping; performs emergency medical dispatch when required.
• Maintains security, confidentiality, and professional conduct; assists training of new Dispatchers.
