Job summary

San Diego Metropolitan Transit System is seeking a Dispatcher to provide public safety services, handle emergency and non-emergency calls, and coordinate with CCIs and TSOs. The role requires judgment in emergencies, report-writing, and shift work on a 4 day/10 hour per day pattern.

Candidates must complete POST basic course, hold a California driver’s license, and be proficient with MS Word/Excel. Training includes dispatching to field personnel and testifying when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; California driver’s license required.
• Completion of POST Certified Public Safety Dispatchers' Basic Course or within first year.
• Familiarity with MTS policies and regulations; ability to write reports in English.
• Ability to use 2-way radios and police radios; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Answer emergency and non-emergency calls from patrons and employees.
• Dispatch CCIs and TSOs to calls for service.
• Retrieve video from CCTV system and provide copies to relevant departments.
• Prepare incident reports and testify in court when subpoenaed.
• Work 4 day/10 hour shifts; flexible scheduling.
