Job summary

The City of Folsom is seeking a Communications Supervisor to join the Police Department's Communications team. The Floor Supervisor will plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the Public Safety Emergency Communications Dispatcher Center, oversee dispatch staff, and ensure efficient operations across shifts.

Responsibilities include supervision, policy implementation, scheduling, performance evaluations, and coordination with internal and external agencies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Three years of full-time public dispatch experience in a law enforcement environment.
• Possession of a current and valid P.O.S.T. Dispatch Certificate is desirable.
• Supervisory experience and ability to lead staff and manage priorities.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and supervise the work of staff in the Communications Center, including leadership, mentoring, coaching and performance evaluations.
• Participates in staff selection; works with employees to correct deficiencies; helps implement goals and objectives; schedules and methods for providing services.
• Implements policies and evaluates operations; recommends improvements.
• Prepare work schedules to provide adequate shift coverage, including vacation and leave schedules.
• Evaluate and prepare performance evaluations.
• Serve as a resource on policies and procedures in unusual situations.
• Receive telephone and radio calls for public safety; dispatch routine and emergency calls.
• Monitor video feeds and coordinate with other public agencies by radio.
• Prepare written documentation and statistical reports; explain data collection methods.
• Review publications to stay current on trends in the field.
• Analyze data and process public safety records; maintain quality assurance measures.
