Freeport Police Department is seeking a Telecommunications Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the communications center, supervise dispatch personnel, manage scheduling, training, quality assurance, and ensure compliance with department policies and applicable laws and agreements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with dispatcher experience.
• LEADS, EMD, and Training Officer certifications or ability to obtain within six months.
• Remain calm under pressure and exercise sound judgment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Teamwork and ability to perform dispatcher duties when required.
• Pass background, medical, psychological, drug-screening, and other pre-employment checks.
• Knowledge of department policies, laws, and labor agreements.

Responsibilities

• Lead dispatch personnel and oversee daily communications center operations.
• Monitor workload, schedule staff, and ensure accurate emergency and non-emergency dispatch.
• Coordinate staffing for vacancies, emergencies, and events.
• Coordinate initial and ongoing training for dispatch personnel.
• Evaluate performance, provide coaching, and identify training needs.
• Enforce policies, procedures, and applicable laws; assist audits and records requests.
• Oversee CAD, radio, recording, mapping, and CJIS systems; coordinate equipment maintenance.
• Foster interagency coordination and represent the center at meetings.
