Qualifications

  • High school diploma required or equivalent.
  • Two years of entry-level work experience with voice communications systems or central switchboard operations.
  • An associate degree in a technical communications discipline may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operates base radio station for Public Safety and dispatches officers to emergencies and other locations.
  • Maintain a dispatch log of all activities for dispatched calls and events.
  • Answer all non-emergency and emergency lines, obtain information and alert units via radio or telephone.
  • Operate NCIC teletype to obtain vehicle registration and related information; observe 10-minute hit policy as required.
  • Maintain and use equipment in daily tasks; ensure accurate records and reporting.
  • Mentor Communications Specialists and coordinate training as part of the Field Training Program.
