Job summary

Robinson Helicopter Company is seeking a Public Relations Manager to develop and execute communications strategies that support corporate priorities, product launches, major trade shows, and business growth. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this role shapes Robinson's corporate narrative and engages national media.

The position leads PR initiatives across departments and external partners, with a focus on AP Style writing, media relations, and crisis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• At least seven years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or marketing.
• Strong media relations, including journalist outreach, proactive pitching, interview coordination, and rapid response to media inquiries.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, including AP Style proficiency.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while coordinating effectively across departments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an annual PR roadmap aligned with corporate milestones, product cycles, trade shows, product launches, and other key initiatives.
• Set clear objectives, tactics, budgets, timelines, and measurable outcomes for each public relations program.
• Develop corporate and brand narratives that position Robinson as a mission-focused leader in civil and commercial aviation.
• Build and maintain relationships with aviation, manufacturing, business, and national broadcast journalists; secure coverage through proactive pitching and timely responses to media inquiries.
• Position company executives as industry resources through interviews, speaking engagements, contributed articles, and other thought-leadership opportunities.
• Write and edit press releases, media pitches, bylined articles, advertorials, newsletters, executive scripts, and other corporate communications in AP Style.
• Identify newsworthy developments across Robinson's operations and global network and turn technical information into accurate, accessible stories.
• Serve as the primary communications contact during high-pressure or crisis situations and coordinate clear, timely messaging for internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate with teams across the company to maintain consistent messaging across campaigns, platforms, and stakeholder communications.
• Track engagement, share of voice, sentiment, lead generation, and other relevant measures; report results to leadership and use post-project reviews to improve future programs.

The Opportunity

Robinson Helicopter Company is hiring a Public Relations Manager to develop and execute communications strategies that support corporate priorities, product launches, major trade shows, and business growth. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, this role shapes Robinson's corporate narrative, builds relationships with national and industry media, and translates technical achievements into clear stories for external audiences. The position has no direct reports but leads public relations initiatives across departments and external partners.

What You Will Do

Qualifications

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• At least seven years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or marketing.
• Demonstrated success developing communications strategy and managing public relations programs from planning and budgeting through execution and reporting.
• Strong media relations experience, including journalist outreach, proactive pitching, interview coordination, and rapid response to media inquiries.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, including experience producing press releases, pitch letters, executive scripts, and feature articles in AP Style.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and strict deadlines while coordinating effectively across departments and external partners.
• Ability to work on-site in Torrance five days per week and travel occasionally to represent the company at community and industry events.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, defense, heavy manufacturing, business-to-business communications, or a public relations agency environment.
• Experience communicating within a regulated industry and translating technical specifications or operational achievements for general audiences.
• Experience working directly with a chief executive officer or other senior executives in a public relations capacity.
• A record of connecting communications programs to measurable corporate and brand growth objectives.

Compensation And Other Pay

The anticipated hiring range for this salaried position is $110,000 to $125,000 per year. The actual offer will be based on documented, job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, demonstrated capabilities, internal equity, and geographic location. Eligibility and payment terms are governed by the applicable compensation program.

YEAR-END SHUTDOWN

Robinson Helicopter Company generally schedules a company shutdown between Christmas and New Year's Day. The specific shutdown dates and pay treatment are established and communicated annually. Some shutdown days may be designated as company-paid holidays, while other days may require the use of accrued personal paid time or may be unpaid, depending on employment classification, available leave, and applicable company policy.

Benefit eligibility, coverage, employee contributions, and other terms are governed by the applicable benefit plans and company policies and may change in accordance with applicable law.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role works primarily in a climate-controlled office and may also enter manufacturing areas where noise levels range from quiet to moderate. The work is typically performed while stationary for up to 75% of the day, requires movement throughout the facility as needed, and may occasionally involve lifting up to 25 pounds. The employee must follow applicable site safety procedures when working in manufacturing areas. Occasional domestic or international travel, generally up to 5%, may be required for industry or community events.
