Pittsburg Independent School District Central Office in Pittsburg, Texas seeks a Director of Communications to lead public information efforts and district-wide communications. The role focuses on media relations, public messaging, and maintaining district publications and reports.

The ideal candidate will oversee community engagement, ensure policy compliance, and manage the communications budget, reporting to the Central Office team in a full-time capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field is required/preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required
• Demonstrated excellent public relations, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, parents or the public
• Strong written and oral communication across all management levels
• Knowledge of media relations and public relations functions; proficiency with standard office software

Responsabilités

• Serve as the district Public Information Officer (PIO) responsible for media relations, crisis communications, and public messaging.
• Coordinate media coverage; prepare press releases and publish articles and photos.
• Ensure public information activities support district goals and objectives.
• Design, prepare and edit district publications including newsletters and programs.
• Represent the district on community committees and engage with civic organizations.
• Develop and publicize district reports related to performance and goals.
• Comply with applicable laws, policies and local regulations; maintain records.
• File and maintain required reports and documents; follow safety protocols and emergency procedures.
• Develop and administer the department budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
