Job summary

The City of Columbia is seeking a Public Relations Coordinator to serve as the primary liaison between Parks and Recreation and the Public Relations department. The role supports messaging, events, and community engagement, and includes managing department content and imagery for online channels.

Responsibilities include coordinating promotional materials, assisting leadership with communications, and capturing photos at events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, marketing or a closely related field.
• Two (2) years of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class “D” Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between Parks and Recreation and the Public Relations department.
• Assist in crafting messaging that supports department goals and city initiatives.
• Help plan and promote department events and community engagement activities.
• Photograph department activities for promotional use and maintain a photo library.
• Act as Content Manager for department webpages and social media; ensure accuracy and relevance.
• Engage with neighborhood leaders and stakeholders to raise awareness of programs.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
