Job summary

The City of Plant City seeks a Public Records Staff Attorney to coordinate multi-department responses to large and complex public records requests and to act as a subject matter expert on Florida public records law. This role supports the City Attorney and City officials in legal services and formulating city-wide policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from ABA-accredited law school.
• Member of The Florida Bar in good standing.
• Valid State of Florida Class “E” Driver’s License.
• Experience with public records law or local government law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the City’s responses to large and complex public records requests and serve as a resource to City staff on public records law.
• Provide legal research and draft memoranda on Florida public records law for guidance to staff.
• Develop policies and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce processing times in responding to public records requests.
• Create forms for the public records response process to ensure clarity and compliance with the law.
