Job summary

The Public Records Staff Attorney at City of Boca Raton will coordinate the City's responses to sizable, complex, sensitive, or non-routine public records requests, serving as a subject matter expert and resource to City employees on public records law.

You will assist the City Attorney in providing legal services for the Mayor and City Council, City officials, the City Manager, and all City departments; respond to subpoenas, evidence preservation requests, and discovery requests; and may also

Qualifications

J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school is required.
Member of The Florida Bar in good standing is required.
Valid State of Florida Class “E” Driver’s License is required.
Knowledge of Florida public records laws and legal research methods.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the City’s responses to sizable, complex, sensitive or non-routine public records requests.
Assist in providing legal services to the Mayor, City Council, City officials, City Manager, and all departments.
Respond to subpoenas, evidence preservation requests, and discovery requests.
Develop policies, procedures, and standard forms to improve public records processes.
Develop and implement training programs on public records law for City staff.
