Job summary

Range Energy in Mountain View, CA seeks a Controller to own the accounting function as the company scales toward production and public reporting. You will take charge of close, audit readiness, technical accounting, and ERP migration.

You will build cost accounting, inventory, and revenue processes from the ground up, partnering with supply chain and operations, while shaping internal controls for public company readiness.

Qualifications

• CPA strongly preferred; candidates without an active CPA must bring equivalent depth of technical accounting and audit experience.
• Public company experience or public accounting audit experience, or both.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of a monthly close.
• Strong command of US GAAP and documentation of technical accounting positions.
• Experience in a lean environment where you handle strategy and execution.
• High attention to detail with clear, defensible output.
• Direct, clear communicator who works with auditors and executives.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close end to end with GAAP statements and audit-ready docs.
• Lead the PCAOB audit process as primary contact for auditors.
• Own technical accounting positions and memos (equity, warrants, revenue, stock-based comp).
• Manage daily accounting operations and relationship with outsourced partner.
• Lead ERP implementation and migration planning for production-scale company.
• Develop cost accounting, inventory, and revenue processes ahead of production start.
• Establish internal controls and documentation for public reporting.
• Support financial reporting for board and investors.
• Hire and develop the accounting team as the company grows.
