Job summary

NPR in Washington, DC, seeks an experienced advocacy project manager to lead targeted state grassroots campaigns. You will coordinate with the ACPR Advocacy Director and work with public radio stations to draft plans, model legislation, and prepare testimonies or advocacy days.

You will monitor legislative activity, translate policy impacts into clear briefs, and build relationships with state associations and stakeholders across multiple states. Hybrid role with on-site days in DC.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in nonpartisan advocacy, state and local government, campaigns or similar
  • Experience in government affairs or advocacy across multiple states and stakeholder groups
  • Experience producing communications and campaign deliverables
  • Experience educating bipartisan lawmakers
  • Awareness of the local media landscape
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google suite

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary project manager for targeted state grassroots campaigns supporting public radio stations.
  • Coordinate with ACPR Advocacy Director as the primary contact for specified states/territories.
  • Support grassroots mobilizations and messaging through digital content and partner updates.
  • Draft model legislation and prepare materials like one-pagers and testimonies or organize advocacy days.
  • Monitor state legislative and regulatory activity relevant to public radio.
  • Translate complex policy impacts into plain-language summaries and talking points.
  • Plan advocacy trips with state offices and assemble briefing packets.
  • Build relationships with state associations and stakeholders.
