Job summary

The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and Sea Center invites a Public Programs Specialist to join the Guest Experience team in Santa Barbara. This part-time, non-exempt role (20–28 hours/week) focuses on developing and hosting educational programs across campus and off-site locations, engaging guests and partners with warmth and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Experience planning, coordinating, hosting, and facilitating public programs.
• Ability to manage multiple projects: scheduling, logistics, budgets, and stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication with community partners.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, promote, and host mission-aligned public programs.
• Coordinate on-site and off-site educational experiences for large audiences.
• Serve as primary host and contact for presenters and partners.
• Oversee setup/breakdown, inventory, and program logistics.
• Track expenses, process payments, and generate financial reports.
• Develop program data reports and support grants.
