Job summary

The New York Historical seeks a Public Programs Assistant to support the Senior Manager of Public Programs in planning, promotion, and production of evening and daytime programs, including lectures, tours, seminars, and podcasting projects.

This full-time role requires evening work 2–4 times per week and occasional weekend dates, supporting livestreaming and studio productions for History with David Rubenstein.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Arts Administration, History, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of event operations and/or marketing experience; non-profit experience preferred.
  • Strong writing and editing skills; marketing and promotion experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing programs, including evenings, tours, and weekend activities.
  • Oversee scheduling and communication for program volunteers and rosters.
  • Assist with marketing descriptions and outreach materials for programs.
  • Manage department ticketing, sales reports, and donor/invoice processes.
  • Coordinate with Development and External Affairs on VIP guest lists and publicity.
