Job summary

Prince George County, VA is seeking a Procurement Officer to prepare specifications and invitation to bid or request for proposal packages, secure and analyze bids, requisition materials, and create purchase orders.

The incumbent will maintain files and records, manage and post solicitations and contract awards in eVA, and handle surplus property sales. This position also serves as the liaison for vehicle and property insurance claims, requiring strong knowledge of public procurement practices.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Virginia Public Procurement Act purchasing practices.
• Knowledge of laws relating to public purchasing.
• Ability to write clear and concise contracts and specifications.
• Knowledge of various grades and qualities of materials, supplies and equipment used by the County.
• Ability to gather and analyze facts and assemble reports.
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment.
• Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in writing and verbally.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors and the public.
