Job summary

State-of-West-Virgini is seeking an entry-level Research Analyst to support the General Counsel’s attorneys through research, data analysis, and administrative tasks within a government setting. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree with strong research and writing abilities, excellent communication skills, and meticulous organizational capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field involving research and writing preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
• Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal, policy, and procedural research to support the division’s projects and initiatives; collect, analyze, and summarize data.
• Track legislation and provide updates to staff as needed.
• Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations for internal use.
• Assist in drafting memos, correspondence, and documentation for legal staff.
• Maintain organized records, files, and databases in accordance with agency standards.
• Provide administrative support including scheduling, meeting coordination, document management, and office communication.
• Help ensure compliance with agency policies, public records requirements, and other applicable regulations.
• Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
