Job summary

International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP) is seeking a Staff Actuary to support the American Academy of Actuaries in public policy and professionalism efforts in the United States. The role emphasizes actuarial analysis, stakeholder outreach, and collaboration with regulators, associations, and volunteers.

The Staff Actuary will lead and support projects across casualty, risk management, and research topics, with travel up to 15% for external presentations and conferences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field.
• ASA or ACAS required.
• 7–10 years of actuarial experience or equivalent combination of education and experiences.
• Experience in property/casualty insurance, financial services, or risk management.
• Understanding of policy issues in property/casualty or financial services sector.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement with legislative/regulatory stakeholders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support public policy and professionalism teams with staff and volunteer leadership to build relationships with regulators, associations, employers, and members.
• Collaborate with volunteers and staff to deliver public policy work products and professionalism content.
• Represent the Academy at public forums and within the actuarial community to promote policy perspectives.
• Propose and develop work products and identify stakeholders to drive timely policy work.
• Contribute to research activities on emerging actuarial topics in collaboration with staff and volunteers.
• Lead projects and participate in priority cross-practice initiatives.
