Job summary

The City of Thomaston is seeking a Ground & Park Maintenance Worker to maintain grounds, parks, facilities and rights-of-way, ensuring safe, clean, and welcoming public spaces for residents and visitors. This full-time role covers mowing, trimming, planting, and basic maintenance.

You will operate riding and push mowers, blowers, and other equipment, assist with event setup, and report safety hazards. Outdoor work in all weather with PPE required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of city policies, safety, and work standards
• Knowledge of grounds, parks, and landscape maintenance practices
• Ability to operate grounds equipment and hand tools safely
• Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers, supervisors, and the public

Responsibilities

• Mows grass, trims hedges, edges lawns, and blows leaves on city property, parks, and rights-of-way.
• Maintains parks and facilities, including benches, tables, playgrounds, and walking trails.
• Assists in setup and cleanup for city events in parks and public spaces.
• Operates and maintains grounds equipment such as mowers, blowers, and edgers.
• Reports safety hazards or maintenance needs promptly.
