Job summary

Montgomery County Public Library in Clarksville, TN is seeking an entry-level Library Aide to process, organize and shelve library materials across all locations. The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and offers an hourly starting wage of $16.97 at a non-exempt, part-time schedule.

Responsibilities include assisting patrons, operating automated materials handling systems, shelving by Dewey order, and supporting events and PAC terminal tutoring. A background check is required.

Qualifications

• Provides customer service to internal and external customers; greets, receives, and screens visitors and customers; addresses and resolves customer questions as able and refers complex inquiries to appropriate staff.
• Performs tasks associated with the automated materials handling system, such as emptying bins, fine sorting carts, and providing basic troubleshooting.
• Shelves library materials alphanumerically according to the Dewey decimal classification.
• Maintains shelves by keeping materials in neat and correct order. Cleans and sanitizes materials as needed.
• Assists staff and the public with locations of materials.
• Assists the public with general information and direction.
• Assists with special events.
• Tutors patrons in the use of the PAC terminals.
• Attends regularly scheduled departmental and all-staff meetings, annual staff training day, and any additional mandatory meetings.

Responsibilities

• Shelf materials in Dewey order and maintain neat, correct shelves.
