Job summary

The Claysburg Area Public Library is seeking a Library Director to lead a 35-hour work week in a rural community serving Claysburg, East Freedom, and parts of Bedford County. The role directs library resources and programs, develops short and long-term goals, and works with the Library Board to align with policies and objectives.

Qualifications include two years of college with library science credits, leadership experience in a non-profit setting, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Two academic years of college education with nine (9) credits in Library Science from an accredited institution.
• Experience in a library system or relevant public service is preferred.
• FBI and PA Criminal Background Checks and PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
• Demonstrated leadership in a community or non-profit setting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and/or perform daily tasks involved in running the library.
• Administer the library within its goals, policies, and budget.
• Manage personnel, budget, payroll, and benefits; oversee collection development.
• Coordinate and create community programs to raise library awareness.
• Promote library services through outreach and community presentations.
• Supervise library staff and participate in fundraising activities.
