Job summary

Claysburg Area Public Library is seeking a Library Director to lead a rural library serving Claysburg, East Freedom, and parts of Bedford County. The role is 35 hours per week with occasional evenings and weekends, reporting to the Library Board.

Salary ranges from $27,000 to $30,000 annually and includes holidays and leave benefits. The director oversees operations, budgets, programs, staff supervision, and community engagement, with a focus on expanding services and partnerships within Blair

Qualifications

• Two academic years of college with nine credits in Library Science OR two years without library science credits plus nine library science credits.
• Experience in a library system or public service is preferred.
• Background checks required (FBI and PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse History Clearance).
• Demonstrated leadership in a community or nonprofit setting.
• Experience with fundraising, development, and grants is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily library operations and staff.
• Administer library goals within approved policies and budgets.
• Handle personnel, payroll, benefits, collection development, and facility maintenance.
• Coordinate community programs and outreach to raise library awareness.
• Promote services to community groups and markets for monthly programs.
• Supervise staff and participate in grant research and applications.
• Assist in fundraising activities and board-recommended initiatives.
• Prepare reports for monthly Board meetings and district/state reporting.
