Job summary

Department of Health and Social Services is seeking a Conservation Technician II to manage and maintain Delaware’s natural resources and public lands. You will blend conservation practices with skilled trades to support habitats, facilities, and visitor safety across state lands.

The role involves operating equipment, performing grounds maintenance, and assisting with large projects while ensuring compliance with state policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Six months experience operating and maintaining motor vehicles and groundskeeping tools.
• Knowledge of plant life, horticulture or arboriculture.
• Ability to prioritize, assign, and review the work of others.

Responsibilities

• Propagating, seeding, transplanting, cultivating, and harvesting plants as part of grounds management.
• Perform maintenance and repairs across trades including plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding.
• Operate marine, land-based, and construction equipment and vehicles.
• Provide information to the public and ensure safety of grounds and facilities.
