Job summary

The Honolulu Police Commission is seeking two Police Commission Investigator positions in Honolulu. You will independently investigate complaints against the Honolulu Police Department and its members, interview complainants and witnesses, and develop evidence to substantiate findings.

You will prepare comprehensive investigative reports and coordinate with other agencies. Responsibilities include reviewing video evidence, serving as a liaison among agencies, and handling subpoenas and

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major work in social work, sociology, psychology, public administration, or a related field.
  • Substitution: Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Four (4) years of professional work experience may substitute for a general bachelor's degree.
  • Education verification and foreign credential evaluation may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Independently conduct confidential investigations arising from complaints against the Honolulu Police Department and its members.
  • Interview complainants and witnesses; determine facts; develop and evaluate evidence.
  • Prepare comprehensive investigative reports documenting findings and supporting evidence.
  • Coordinate with agencies to process subpoenas and affidavits; obtain information and evidence.
