Job summary

State of Michigan, via the MDOT internship program, offers undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience in civil engineering and transportation planning. You'll work under supervision to learn inspection, surveying, design, GIS, and data analysis while building a professional network.

Locations across Michigan may assign you to different work areas based on need, with a potential hybrid (office/home) schedule.

Qualifications

• Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
• Attach unofficial transcripts or current course schedule showing details.

Responsibilities

• Assist civil engineering and transportation planning tasks under supervision.
• Perform entry- to intermediate-level work including inspection, surveying, and data analysis.
• Support design plans, community engagement, and project administration.
• Collaborate with engineers and planners across work areas.
