Job summary

The City of McKinney is seeking a Construction Inspection Superintendent to lead the inspection of CIP and development projects, ensure erosion control compliance, and supervise field staff. Qualifications

• Knowledge of construction inspection and management practices for public infrastructure.
• Knowledge of erosion and sediment control principles and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to read, interpret, and enforce construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Ability to lead through subordinate supervisors and evaluate performance.
• Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws applicable to construction and earth-disturbing activities.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight of construction inspection activities for CIP, development, and erosion control inspections.
• Manages daily operations through field supervisors and staff; sets expectations and accountability.
• Ensures consistent interpretation and enforcement of plans, standards, and requirements.
• Interacts with developers, contractors, consultants, residents, and internal departments throughout projects.
• Leads recruitment, mentoring, and development for the Construction Inspection team.
• Develops and maintains internal inspection procedures and work practices.
• Monitors performance using permitting software and dashboards; supports budgeting and staffing decisions.
• Evaluates workload and resources for staffing and budgeting planning.
